The Eagle has not landed!
Once highly endangered, it was absolutely ONLY through the grand efforts of conservation, that the American Bald Eagle was brought back from near-extinction. Brutal conditions, lead poisoning, man's encroachment upon habitat almost wiped them out. What many photographers and viewers do not understand is how fragile the juvenile eagles are with a mortality rate and often lowered survival rate due to lack of prey, competition, brutal weather conditions, lead poisoning, illegal hunting and worse.
It is no longer enough to see them perched aloft in a tree, you are now more determined than ever to watch them on their hunt for food and survival through some of the most brutal winter conditions imaginable.
